Deployment Day

On weekdays here in Bandung they also keep in talking about the traffic jam, but they do not know the traffic jam in the Manila, Philippines where it is worse than here in Bandung. The traffic jam in Bandung is that the cars can move slowly, but in Manila especially in rush hour the cars can’t move as what is happening here in Bandung so it’s better to walk than to take a car or taxi in the road.
Deploying to another school especially in another country gives me an ambivalent feeling like half of it is being excited and nervous. Excited because I will be meeting and teaching some students again and also eager to know how the structure or the physical setting of the school would look like.

SMP Pelita Nusantara, one of the International schools in Bandung.
SMP Pelita Nusantara is not only an international school they have also give military training for those who wants to be a future militant. They are not requiring to join but for those who are aiming or those who want to join in the military training. Then, while we are having our orientation about the school they also told us that they have a two curriculum which is followed by the teacher and it must be done in the teaching field. The 2 curriculumss are local curriculum and the Cambridge curriculum. They also introduced to us the two types of lesson plan. The detailed lesson plan and the Cambridge lesson plan. The Cambridge lesson plan has a certain template where you can just fill up about what are your objectives, materials etc. it’s like a detailed lesson plan but they just fill it up. They introduced also to us our cooperating teachers or otherwise called partner teacher.

We also roamed around the campus of SMP Pelita Nusantara, about the physical setting of the school, it is not that quite beautiful but it’s like a village where they have a wide campus and every single building it is like a house. As we enter the classroom it’s a literary house because they have a 2 or 3 rooms that they are not using. And when I went to their toilet they have a big bath tub over there. They also say that the school has been there since the ancient years. The Netherlands or the Dutch serves the school as their village. Until, the Netherlands or the Dutch went out from the country. Also one of the management rent it so that it will become a school, and yet until now they are still renting it. i asked my cooperating teacher if they have any plans to buy the land and renovate it but she said to me that they are planning to build some facilities of the school.

Inside look of SMP Pelita Nusantara

While we are having orientation about the school and the students of SMP Pelita Nusantara
After the orientation we roamed around the campus, and this is their canteen.
     They have also a playground
    SMP Pelita Nusantara swimming pool
      SMP Pelita Nusantara Gymnasium

The most important here is, this is a big opportunity to teach other school especially it is outside of my country. I will be learning something new that I can share to my university too and apply it to my field. Lastly, just enjoy in teaching because it is the secret to hide the weariness of a teacher.
